Sorry for the radio silence

As you can imagine it’s been a hectic week with moving, my birthday auction, a rock show coming up, plus Stargate stuff, so I’ve been neglecting this blog. But come back on Sunday, if I can get my internet hooked up at the new place I’ll be posting new and vivacious updates. And if I can’t get the internet hooked up, then I’m pooched.

The Mother of All Birthday Auctions

Don’t forget that the big fat birthday auction is on Sunday at 5pm at my place. THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST AUCTION EVER thanks to the eviction! Looking at the pile I see DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, video games, board games, roleplaying games, clothing, audio cassettes, VHS tapes (and more VHS tapes!), electronics, cameras, computer hardware, posters, furniture, models, toys, phones, kitchenware, camping gear, a didgeridoo, and much more! AND THAT’S JUST THE STUFF FROM ME AND STEWIE!

Bring your friends!

Toren’s Birthday Auction FAQ:

Q. What the hell is that?
A: Since you asked so nicely, I’ll tell you:

What I’ve done for previous birthdays is instead of having a regular, boring, predictable birthday party where people bring “gifts” for the birthday boy, what happens is I, and everyone who attends, can bring (donate) whatever they have around the house* that they want to get rid of, and we auction it off. All of the cash that is raised goes to me me me.

You get rid of your old eyesores
We have an auction chock full of hilarity and shenanigans
You get some new eyesores
I get a pile of cash
EVERYBODY WINS!!!

After the auction (and before, really) comes food, drink and socializing. So bring a friend or two, bring some coins or a checkbook, and bring your old junk: books, CDs, knickknacks, action figures, comic books, gewgaws, baubles, bric-a-brac, objet d’art, white elephants, bagatelles, curios, trifles, whatnots, toiletries and trains…

Don’t bring anything that you don’t literally want to give away because things you might expect to go for a lot might only bring in a nickel. Money’s not really the point.

Q: Are you really being evicted?
A: Yes. Yes I am. So is everyone in the building due to “extensive renovations.” Because of this, I’m getting rid of more stuff than usual, including DVDs, books and gaming stuff.

*The management reserves the right to NOT auction something off that you bring (because I want it).

Help me move, maybe?

Okay so here’s the deal with me moving:

I am moving some stuff (mostly small stuff) tomorrow (Saturday the 18th) and the bigger stuff during the day on Saturday the 25th. Right now I’m just going to address tomorrow’s move.

I’m dividing the moving into shifts:

SHIFT 1: 11:30am

Shawn & Carina ‘n’ Tim are coming over at 11:30 am with 2 vehicles. So we’ll have vehicles but may be short on manpower. If you want to come help lug boxes, etc, down stairs your muscles would be very much appreciated.

SHIFT 2: 1pm

Carina ‘n’ Tim will probably be gone by now. Shawn may still be around with his SUV. Depending on how things have been going, I’ll be making some phone calls. If you’re available for shift 2 let me know and I’ll call you some time around 12:30pm to let you know the situation. Vehicles will be needed if this shift happens.

SHIFT 3: 4pm

There are a couple vehicles that are only available around this time, i.e. Chris Geisel & Stephane. Again, there’s the possibility that we’ll have moved everything that I have ready to move by this time, but I will be making calls to confirm. If I still need help by this time, I’ll need arms more than wheels, but if you have both, bravo! Let me know if you’re available for this shift and I’ll call you around 3pm.

NEXT SATURDAY THE 25TH:
As for the 25th, Mr Woods will be coming in with his big old truck in the morning and we’ll need arms to move the bigger things. If you are available then please let me know!

THANKS!!!

Termithulhu

Here’s the drawing I did for Duncan’s t-shirt. You’ll recall I put a custom t-shirt design on auction to raise money for the Heart of the World Theatre.

Pssst! Act! Act!

These past couple of days I’ve been acting as a Russian scientist working for the CIA in a History Channel/CBS Eye Too Productions documentary called “Beyond Top Secret.”

I also got my script today for the Stargate Atlantis episode. Oooooh!

Thrifty

Today I biked all around this town to find some kind of a costume that could pass off as a deep see diving suit. I didn’t find such a suit (or boots, or a belt) but I did have some fun exploring the thrift stores. The best ones are “My Favourite Thrift Shop” at Fourth Ave @ MacDonald and Value Village on Victoria Drive @ 48th. If I was shopping for actual clothes, I would have bought something. So, I’ll be back. Especially since when the wardrobe people who dress me for acting roles ask if I have X, Y, or Z, my response is invariably no, no, and no. I’m not what you would call a sharp dressed man. I’ve found my niche and have, perhaps a little sadly, stuck with it. I did manage to buy a tie today, so that’s something.

Anthony's Song

So I can actually start moving into my new place as of August 15th. Oh the pain, the pain of it all! My new address is 3890 ALEXANDRA ST VANCOUVER BC V6J 4C4. Isn’t that exciting? This old place may look pretty barren for the birthday auction, but for all the goodies on the block. I think this is going to be the most impressive birthday auction ever in terms of stuff, what with both Stewie and I whittling down our possessions in anticipation of the move.

Stargate

I got a role on the Stargate TV series. They want me for one day of filming (I do have speaking role), but they don’t know what date. The best they can do right now is somewhere between the 17th and 27th. That could screw up my Birthday Auction or the Chilliwack show on the 25th. Pray for me.

It looked like a sasquatch, and Yet I….

When I’m not being subjected to stress, I sleep well and usually don’t remember my dreams. Recently I’ve been remembering tons of dreams, most not worth transcribing (although recently I dreamt that I had created a sexy android to do my whim, who was so lifelike that she even critiqued my performance – I had another one that involved an extremely hairy baby – like sasquatch only sparser and more disturbing), and sleeping poorly. Of course my perennial problem of preferring to stay up watching movies and writing blog entries rather than going to bed doesn’t help, but it’s safe to say that the whole eviction thing is really the culprit here. Stress ruins my sleep. This is why when I book plane flights I try to book them very late at night – if they’re during the day I usually don’t even get to sleep, I’m in such a state. I guess I inherit my worry from my Ma.
