Go-Rilla

Here’s a colour study of G0-Rilla.

go-rilla-72dpi

That was my initial colour idea. Light blue and white.

Here’s some alternates I just screwed around with:

go-rilla-red-grey

Grey with red trim.

go-rilla-red-gold1

My favourite superhero colour combo – red and gold.

go-rilla-purples

Two kinds of purple.

I have my favourites. Please offer your thoughts, and if you feel like screwing around in photoshop here’s a blank:

Happy Anniversary to Us

Tuesday was the 1 Year Anniversary of Toren + Deanna. We celebrated by going out to Foundation and watching Beastmaster, which I had never seen before and which Deanna has seen many times.

Movies I Never Saw On The Big Screen…

But now I can! Who’s up for some awesome films in comfy chairs downtown at the VanCity Theatre next week?

It’s Kicked In

…the busy-ness, I mean.

The annoying thing about the film industry is that you absolutely cannot predict what you’re going to be doing. A few weeks back I had two auditions in the same day – one for a diaper commercial and one for a beer commercial. I’m glad I got the diaper commercial over the beer commercial, though I would have made more money with the latter, especially considering I was an extra for the Huggies commercial. It filmed Thursday and Friday. At the beginning of the week I was told wardrobe on Wednesday shooting on Friday and maybe Thursday. On Tuesday night I found out no wardrobe and shooting on Friday and maybe Thursday. On Wednesday night I found out shooting on Thursday. On Thursday night I found out shooting on Friday. You can imagine how this messes with my day job schedule.

I don’t know if I want to describe the commercial here, but suffice to say there were robots and animated restroom icons dancing around…and me too. The Potty Dance. Something to behold and if I find the commercial online I’ll post it here. Not that you’ll be able to see me as I was in the very back of the toddler pride parade. Lots of good food though. And speaking of food, I’m on a diet again, so stop giving me all that candy.

Back with more news soon – now I must go read a script.

Another WWFJ Revelation AKA Feline Fricasse

Have you ever noticed that in cartoons, birds like Daffy Duck, Donald Duck, Henery Chickenhawk, and Woody Woodpecker rarely if ever fly? The only exception I can think of is Beaky Buzzard and any time a stork with a baby shows up.

Here’s an example – at 1:27, check out how the birds go south for the winter:

WWFJ – Another Pass

Alright so here’s the newest news from the WWFJ gaming supplement.

From the latest batch of ideas I’ve incorporated Shockatiel, Enormouse, The Impossum, Thundercroak, Supremu, Psibex, and a few maybes like Stalwarthog and Metalligator. Shockatiel and Enormouse got their own writeup while others were just mentioned in passing. I’ve got pretty much all of the character backgrounds done, with some amount of general setting info to write up and then do the stats and of course the art.

Here’s the newest brainstorm of characters, please feel free to comment and cajole:

Lavalamb

Volcanary / Vulcanary (another potential member of Flock of Evil?)

Volcanine

Robonobo

Blizard

Skeletern

Skelephant

Skeletortoise

Zombeast

Smelling Whale Schmag? Count Me In!

Who wants to go see this with me?

  • Thursday, January 8
    Dr. Andrew Trites
    2009/01/08 – 19:30
    2009/01/08 – 21:30
  • Joyce Walley Learning Centre at the Vancouver Museum, 1100 Chestnut Street, Vancouver

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum at UBC will soon be home to the first Blue Whale skeleton on display in Canada, one of only 21 in the world. Dr. Andrew Trites, Director of the Marine Mammal Research Unit at UBC, will join us to give an insider’s account of the Museum’s recent Blue Whale skeleton dig in Prince Edward Island where the carcass washed ashore. Its subsequent journey west to Victoria, where the rather large puzzle of bones is being pieced together, makes for a fascinating story. Learn about the conservation status of Blue Whales, hear the story of the missing flipper, and smell a sample of whale schmag. Find out more about the soon-to-open Beaty Biodiversity Museum at this event, or at www.beatymuseum.ubc.ca.
