Wizard Needs Haircut…Badly
Geisel created this video for the “Ultimate Gamer Test” contest at gleemax.com to show his favourite roleplaying game rule mechanic. John and I helped him, with a special cameo by Neal Bennett!
The Eviction Files: Part 3
Stewie and I have been looking for new places, and this weekend we checked out a couple. Each had their pros and cons, and we’ll continue to try to find some more options since we still have a fair amount of time. In the meantime we’ve been approached by the other people in our building who are mobilizing to fight the eviction. One of them told us that the property company is offering them $2000 to get out – I want that deal!
Where’s a good place to look for places to rent besides craigslist?
Coffee's for Closers
Not long ago I was “addicted” to Ben & Jerry’s Vermonty Python ice cream – I was eating it several times a week. If you don’t know, it’s coffee ice cream with fine cookie crumble swirls and fudge cow-shapes. Now, traditionally, I am not a coffee fan, but I do enjoy coffee ice cream and coffee chocolate mixes and whatnot. So being that I had been consuming so much coffee-flavoured sweetness, I thought perhaps it might be time to reintroduce myself to the beverage. After all, it’s an appetite suppressant, right? Everybody’s doing it, right? And maybe when someone says “let’s go for coffee” I could actually go for coffee – what a world! I was mailing away some CDs at 7-11 so I decided to try a cup. Well, despite the heinous amounts of sugar-free sweetener I put into my coffee, it was pretty disagreeable. I guess it’s not just the same without all that ice cream around it. And anyway, caffeine is the ingredient that supposedly suppresses appetite and there’s plenty of that in Coke Zero anyway.
Podcasted!
Desmond Reddick from Earth-2.net (“Geek Culture at it’s Finest) interviewed me for “The Show 119” and we talked about Lovecraft, film & acting (voice work), and of course The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. Listen to it at http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_119.mp3
Sequelbots – Transform!
So I just got back from seeing Transformers. Warning: Spoilertron!
Cons:
– Extremely Hollywood (this is only a con if you’re not expecting and wanting it to be Hollywood, which I think at least everyone is expecting it).
– When I saw the early previews I noted that the bots looked excessively pointy and “cool” – I got used to that throughout the movie but I still think they could have been at least distinguished more by colour or shape – they all looked very similar and it was hard to tell who was fighting whom, sometimes.
– Weak plot overall.
– They didn’t get Frank Welker to voice Megatron, and there’s no good reason.
Pros:
– Best robots fighting you’ve ever seen.
– Unexpectedly good jokes.
– Lots of good “wow” moments, if you’re in to that sort of thing.
– They did get Peter Cullen to voice Optimus Prime.
In short, definitely worth seeing on the big screen, and you can’t go wrong with The Rio.
ps – the original Jazz was voiced by Scatman “The Shining” Crothers, who as you may know died some time ago.

Movies Movies Movies! And Additional Movies! …of the latter half of 2007.
Movies to see: SICKO, Ratatouille, Knocked Up (at the Rio), Transformers.
Live Free Die Hard is getting good ratings, so I might see it after I’ve seen all of the above.
Not much of a trailer, but here’s what they’ve got for the next Pixar film, about a robot, WALL-E
Also, does anyone know anything about this Will Smith film “I Am Legend?” I have a soft spot for last man on earth films, but not vampire films.
Also also – anyone seen Sunshine?
By the way – I know it’s a way off but the new Coen Brothers film opens in wide release in November. It’s called No Country for Old Men and [here] are 5 clips. If you watch only one of them, make it the second clip.
