Tonight I am getting a new computer! Praise be to the lard! Karen, my old boss and chum, recently got a brand new computer. I do her horse-dancing website and she offered her old computer to me gratis, with the caveat that its already 4 years old. Considering the one its replacing is 8 years old, Im pleased as punch! Im always so fretful about changing anything on or with my computer. I know that I could install something thats light-years ahead of what Im using, but Im worried that something will go wrong and the inconvenience (or tragedy) will negate any of the potential benefits of the new goodie. Its like upgrading to a new version of an old program. Its supposed to be better, but you just end up spending all this time re-customizing it to your preferred settings and then you find out that something you liked about the old program has been replaced with something sucky, and you cant reinstall the old version because they dont offer the old install package on the website. Nevertheless, I have high hopes for the new computer as I imagine Ill be able to do lots of stuff I couldnt before, like download episodes of Justice League and whatnot. Stewie will be shocked.

TORENS FAT FACTS
Choosing your chips! In my spare time Ive done a little research for all of you chip lovers out there. I visited the Frito Lay of Canada website and compared the nutritional information for all of their products. Ill include some highlights here.
Most amount of calories: Lays Roast Chicken at 330 calories per 50 grams.
Most amount of fat: Lays Roast Chicken ties with Lays Fries & Gravy for 20g per 50.
Most amount of carbs: 42 per 50g in both CrackerJacks and Tostitos Triangles (whatever the hell they are)
Least amount of calories: Edge Nacho Cheese at 150
Least amount of fat: Rold Gold at 1g per 50.
Least amount of carbs: Edge Nacho Cheese at 9g per 50
Basically, the Doritos line is about 250-260 calories, 13-14 grams of fat, and 31-32 carbs. The Sun Chips line is just as bad for you. The Natural Organic line is only slightly better. Good old Hickory Sticks: similar but more fat and less carbs.
The Lays line (classic, salt & vinegar, bbq and the rest) is worse for calories and fat, but slightly better for carbs. Ranging 260-330 calories, 16-20 fat, 26-32 carbs.
The Baked! Line is generally a lower on calories (200-230), much lower on fat (1.5-9), but much worse for carbs (34-42)!
In summary, the best choice for fatties like me is for 210 or fewer calories, 10g or fewer of fat, and 20g or fewer carbs. The only one that fits all criteria is Edge Nacho Cheese, and I dont recall ever seeing that in any store. Cheetos Puffs would have made it if not for those 14 grams of fat. Most of the Baked! Line meets the calorie and fat criteria but fail terribly in the carbs department, and likewise for Crackerjacks & Rold Gold (only 1g of fat!).
Unfortunately, I have nothing on Old Dutch
the amazing randi!

Here’s what’s new:
I recently did voiceover work for Kerberos Productions’ “Sword of the Stars” video game. Mike Jackson’s Lovecraftian short film “The Veil” is currently near a director’s cut release. I have been in interviews with a couple of video game companies for work. After 14 years, my band finally got our dream gig of playing with NoMeansNo. Writing a new album progresses.

I am an illustrator. Sometimes I say I’m an artist but usually I stick with illustrator because I don’t want to be thought of as an “artist.” I have taken art history classes but I don’t spend much time at museums, because if I wanted to go to sleep I have a perfectly good bed (and I can choose what art to display around it!)
I sing in a band. I don’t really call myself a musician because I can’t read music and I don’t know how to play an instrument (though I’m hoping to buy a guitar and take some lessons after being a singer for over a decade). Even though I make music, I am very picky about music, and sometimes days or weeks will go by before I even put anything in the CD player. Let me give you some tapas on my musical menu: Metric, Queens of the Stone Age, Raymond Scott, NoMeansNo, Radiohead, Men at Work, Carter Burwell, Ween, Weezer.
I’m a writer. I’ve done all sorts of different writing, from movie reviews that anyone can do, to short fiction, to…okay I guess that’s mostly it. But I did co-write an award-winning book. More on that later.
I’m an actor. WAIT! DON’T GO! I’m mostly a voice actor (you know, like for cartoons and video games). I’m not immersed in the business because frankly, I don’t care for the industry, and I’m terrible at schmoozing. I just enjoy acting from time to time.
I’m a gaming nerd. The book I co-wrote? It was a 1950’s sci-fi roleplaying game. So stick that in your dice cup and roll it. I am well-versed in Dungeons & Dragons and I also enjoy the more casual board games.
