Please critique!

I thought I had previously posted with a rough mockup of a new Thickets shirt, but maybe it was Facebook. The idea is an homage to the classic metal t-shirt, a la Iron Maiden, with an over-the-top, gory skull, blood & fire fest on a black shirt. I won’t give too much away, except for the image here is a rough sketch of one of the elements of the full t-shirt design…
Toren will be showing paintings, drawings, and comic art from the past 14 years of his illustration career including stuff from Call of Cthulhu, Dungeons & Dragons, and his HP Lovecraft-inspired rock band The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. There will be plenty of tentacles and orcs! It all happens at his favourite restaurant – The Wallflower. Try their ‘apple pie’ – it will knock your socks off!
Opening Gala: Saturday October 2 @ 8pm-10pm
2420 Main Street (@ 8th Ave), between RX Comics and Pulp Fiction
The art comes down at the end of the month.
Here’s a sketch I did while waiting in the doctorb’s office (the ‘b’ is for ‘bargain’) of Vigilantelope. It’s fine technically but I find the character boring. I think I need to make him more memorable somehow. I think I’m going to trade in the cape for a v-shaped shield and gruff him up a bit. Any suggestions?
Here’s yet another sketch of Elephantom, adversary to the World Wildlife Federation of Justice. I think he’s very close to how I want the final version in terms of character design. I couldn’t decide if he needed tusks AND beard AND mutton chops AND moustache….I think right now his hair is ridiculous enough. With the tusks and the moustache in pretty much the same place it got quite busy around his face. Same thing with the mutton chops up against his high collar.
I was thinking of making him pink, but that would be too close to Hypnopotamus. I kind of like the green, gives him an eerie ghost-like quality which suits his name (and powers).
A couple years back I did some pages for a comic proposal called “Gangland” for a Neil Kleid. He has been shopping the project around, and just gave me permission to publish my work here. So, here are the pages! This was one of my earliest forays into sequential art, please pardon the newbie errors.

I’m still not happy with it, though it’s my favourite so far of the numerous sketches I’ve done. Did you know Elephantom got his powers in the same accident in which Go-Rilla got his? And they’re arch-nemeses.
I drew this armoured plesiosaur after work today for Craig’s game “The Re-Animated States of America.” It’s done in marker (pens).
