Here are, in various states, the five pages to the Spaceship Zero comic book prequel. Spaceship Zero is the story of a ship and her crew assigned to test the prototype ‘better-than-light’ drive. Upon completion they return to an Earth that has been conquered by alien frog-things. The concept was introduced in the album by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets called “Spaceship Zero: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” and explored further in the award-winning roleplaying game published by Green Ronin in Seattle.

This project began in late 2007 as my assignment for Steve (Queen & Country/Tales of the TMNT) Rolston’s ‘Introduction to Comic Book Production’ at Vancouver Institute for the Arts. It was a five page story that I only had four pages to work with, so I saved page 5 until 2009, for inclusion in Cloudscape Comics’ sci-fi themed anthology ‘Exploded View.’

It is written and illustrated by me, Toren Atkinson. The final published version was lettered by Ed Brisson. If the gallery doesn’t work for you, just scroll down to individual images!
